![]() The good thing and bad thing about Central Park is that it is a ZOO of a meet up location. Street entertainers, charity events, tourists, eclectic people all congregate by the USS Maine Monument. For this reason, I am moving my FitCamp meet up spot to the water fountain in front of Ferrara Cafe. Now, you might say 'Wait a minute. There are two Ferrara Cafes!'. Well, the one I am referencing is closest to Central Park South. If you are in the right spot you should be able to see a FedEx office across the street. On Weekends, we will still meet at the West 63 Street Entrance to Central Park. ![]() Quick reminder to everyone. Saturday class now meets at 11:15 AM. Please bring a yoga mat or a towel. Same meet up location, the West 63 Street entrance to Central Park (W 63 Street and Central Park West) For any newcomers, Roy will usually set up FitCamp at the first set of benches in the park. Look for Roy (pictured right) who will be wearing a "Roy Alexander Fitness" cap. ![]() Benefits Abound! There are thousands of studies that expound the health benefits of exercising. Let me pick a few of my favorite reasons to start.
Having more energy means doing more, which means higher productivity, which could mean bringing higher value to employers or clients, which in turn, may lead to higher compensation! $$$!
Let me illustrate the point through my personal history. When I was a wee little one, I watched my parents exercise. And so I emulated them. My dad boxed and played soccer. I followed suit and added football, hockey, cycling, track, and the traditional sports . And those activities expanded to triathlons and more combative contact sports. The endurance sports lead me to become performance driven. As an adult, the main drivers of my passion in fitness is to be a role model to my family and to help others feel great about themselves and have effusive energy. I share this with you to highlight that although I've played sports all my life and continue to be active, the reasons for why I exercise have changed over time. It's beneficial to evaluate what types of exercise fit into your lifestyle and why you do it. Ask yourself...
This is your journey. This is your life. You need to be true to yourself and give yourself a spark. It would be phenomenal if you shared why you get your body in gear with others. This way you can motivate someone else. After you share the reasons, feel free to use your new found energy to be curious as you check back to see other ways you can be motivated! ------ As for the other benefits, well... they are too numerous to include here for our purposes. I will anonymously post the compressive reasons others have expressed to me on my site. Check back for updates! ![]() We meet at 6:45PM by the USS Maine Monument USS Maine monument at Columbus circle at the southwest corner of Central Park Manhattan, NY

- You wanted a class in Fort Greene Park. BAM! Now, I offer FitCamp on Wednesday nights at 7:45PM in Fort Greene Park (and a second one is coming)! Please continue to give more feedback so you always have a top notch experience. Thank you. P.S. This post was inspired by Terry Crews Old Spice Muscle Music. Due to unpredictable streaks of inclement weather in the past (mainly thunderstorms, torrential rain and wind) , boot camp classes had to be cancelled or moved (though very rarely) . For those of you who want to stay up to date on schedule changes, follow the two easy steps below! 1. Sign up for classes at http://www.supersaas.com/schedule/royalexanderfitness/Fitcamp. If I know you plan on coming and i have your contact, I can inform you about any schedule changes. 2. The Fitcamp Schedule will be updated at least an hour in advance of classes. Bookmark the website and check the schedule prior to class. ![]() There are three studies that one might opine are sponsored by Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts in cahoots with the coffee grower's of Columbia. I may not drink coffee, but after reading this article, I may start hanging at my local java shop.
1. Studies say coffee may increase your time on this planet by 10-13%! 2. It may reduce the risk of cancer and type 2 diabetes. 3. It can also "reoxygenate" brain cells and fight dementia and the ravages of Alzheimer's. Coffee may become one of my new favorites. I'll be following these reports closely and posting more information on RoyAlexanderFitness.com http://nyti.ms/13bl2vb NYTimes: This Is Your Brain on Coffee |
