I have come across a smattering of people who are against vaccinations because they believe that being "natural" is the better option. Here is a more colorful view on this subject. It comes from Liz in Redmond, WA.
To all of those anti-vaccine proponents:
“You want a more natural lifestyle? I kind of doubt it. Nature is red of tooth and claw, full of venoms and poisons, replete with constantly hungry things that have sharp teeth and talons, a place where babies are good eats. Nature does not give two hoots about you personally. There are no roads in nature, no schools or laws (except those of evolution), no Whole Foods, and certainly no doctors or hospitals to rescue you from your foolish decisions.
But that’s your call, not mine. I won’t stand in your way as you take your chances in a world full of creatures, from big to microscopic, who think you look *delicious*. On your way out of town, though, feel free to stop by. We’ll take a walk through the local cemetery, and I’ll show you the graves of children who died in epidemics. Families lost five, seven, ten kids at a time, dead of diseases that we can now prevent with vaccines. They would have stood in line for the opportunity that you’re throwing away.”
